Meeting God
How to reclaim the G word and invite the Sacred into your Life.
I would like to start by launching straight in with the ‘forbidden’ G word.

Now, I am only too aware that this tiny word, and what it represents in the traditional sense, can be triggering for many, especially those carrying religious wounds and/or trauma. And of course I do not wish to cause anyone upset or distress. However, if you will keep your mind and heart open, and walk with me a while on this page/pilgrimage, perhaps we can explore this together some more.
First off, we all know that God is such a contentious word. People are rarely neutral about it. I mean if you use this word in some settings outside of a religious context, it creates a huge negative vibe. As if you had farted loudly in a church. Or alternatively people write you off as ‘god squad’ and stop listening to you immediately you say the word….

And I get it, I really do. For many years I refused to use the term myself for various reasons, including not wishing to offend anyone, including me! However, as I have spiritually matured and deepened into Phase 2 of Life, I have begun to explore my own lazy dismissal of certain spiritual language, and to become more curious and open instead.
For example, I love the Elder and Author, Anne Lamott ‘s definitions of God, as acronyms to help demystify the concept of a Higher Power.
