Most of us know very little about the people that came before us, beyond perhaps our grandparents. An important part of Phase 2 of life is to explore, discover and honour our Ancestors. To find out as much as we can about them, and then to take the time to recognise the legacy we have received through them, including any sacrifices they had to make for us.
In phase 1 of life, so much of our focus is on ourselves and our own healing, attending to the emotional wounds we have experienced as part of the human condition. During this stage we can feel that parts of us are missing, due to the unexpressed stories and emotions from childhood that remain trapped in our hearts. As we heal we return for these inner wounded parts and allow their truth to be spoken and heard, until we feel ready to welcome them back home inside of us. In phase 2 however, our focus goes further back than our experience of childhood, and expands into our lineage and the recognition of those whose shoulders we stand upon. If we don’t do this important piece of work in phase 2 , we can feel a different kind of incompletion. Partly due to a deep longing for a (re)connection to Spirit, and partly due to a lack of acknowledgment, inclusion and honouring of our Ancestors.
