A Pilgrimage to the Heart
What a 3 day retreat without food, loos, shoes or gadgets taught me about abundance.
For ages now I have been looking to find my own wise Elder for guidance and support. Someone a few steps further along the path than me, as an elder in training with her stabilisers still very much on. It has proved a difficult task though, despite much searching, asking around and praying. So, in the end I decided to stop pushing, and instead get still and lean into my faith. Trusting that the Elder I need would arrive at the perfect time. And then just like that, he appeared, (of course).
It reminded me of how we (I) can use prayers like ordering from a menu. “Hello Big D, please can I have this with that, and then that on the side, none of this, but definitely that, and I’d like it now please. Thank you very much.” (Stabilisers wobbling away). I can almost hear the Gods chuckling when I pray like this. “Bless that dear baby elder, she still believes there’s a menu!’
Signs
You know how we always need to look for the signs? To notice when we are being gently nudged by the Universe towards a particular direction. Well, that’s what happened when the name Danny Shmulevitch popped up on my radar, on more than one occasion. I paid attention. After a quick rummage (love that word), through his website, I knew I had found who and what I was looking for. I watched the little video clip on his site and listened to Danny speak. Most importantly though I looked into his eyes, and had all the information I needed. It’s all in the eyes….
Unsurprisingly the dates worked perfectly for me (another sign), for his 3 day group retreat called ‘Walking Your Promise’. As an introvert and someone who works with a lot of people, I was tempted to book the 1:1 experience with Danny, but challenged myself to do the work in a small group. (Bum clench challenge ‘tick’). So within a few short weeks, after preparing myself in the run up, through cutting out sugar, coffee and alcohol, and then extending my morning fasts, I was off! Heading deep into the woods of Gloucestershire to meet my 4 fellow travellers, and Danny and Sarah our hosts.
To say the experience was life changing for me, is a cliché and yet doesn't make it any less true. In essence, I spent 3 days and nights in the woods without gadgets, food, shoes, loos, a shower or a tent! And yet it was the most ABUNDANT experience. Perhaps there is a clue for us all in there somewhere…..
I am still integrating what I went through on this incredible retreat, and some of it is between me and the Divine, but I wanted to share with you some of what I learned along the path to ‘walking my promise’.
